You have that friend. If I have him, you have him; if I'm writing this and it's being posted on the web, and you're reading it, you know the guy I'm talking about. The graphic design friend. He's a great guy. He's into anime and Macs and is always there when you need him-well, maybe not when, but he's around. See, your graphic design friend is your friend, and you're his. You don't always rate as top customer. That's why, when it comes to graphic design, you should never, never, never rule out free clipart. If you do, you're stuck on your friend's timing. (And he's always behind.) Whenever the layout editor needed a graphic for the paste up, two options were available: produce it or find it. In both cases, the graphic was located separately before being cut out or "clipped" to fit the space on the paste up. This clip art procedure carried over to the introduction of the first desktop computers with VCN Execuvision developing a professionally-drawn digital clipart library in 1983. Throughout the '80's and '90's, the popularity of clipart grew to fill the increasing need made by the rise of desktop publishing. Soon, gone were the days of physical camera-ready paste ups-though, as with clipart, the term persisted-and in came the days of Illustrator, PageMaker, Publisher, and more. Some people might shy away from clipart because they don't think of it, or they think it's too much work. If you find the clipart in a clipart book that will be too much work and it won't look good because you'll have to use a photocopier to resize it and then the quality degrades.

To make things simpler, there is also a WordPress plugin available for Pixabay, which will allow you to directly search and add image from Pixabay without having to upload / download or do a jig. Think of everywhere clipart can be used in your restaurant: menu, cups, napkins, table toppers, newspaper ads, flyers, coupons, television commercials, door hangers, signage, window clings, temporary tattoos, coloring books, doggie bags, flags, banners, receipts, letterheads, business cards, refrigerator magnets, postcards and much more. Each and every one of these is an opportunity to build your brand and consistency is the key. The clipart elements you choose should have a consistent look so they reinforce each other and the brand you're building. You can have your feast of logos, mascots, identity and business cards, invitations, letterheads. In addition, there are no hassles of license terms. The electronic art available on the Internet is an extension of this concept. These images are digitized drawings on low resolution used for decorating Invitations and E-greetings. Of course, clip art is intellectual property. As the areas of distribution spread-especially with the advent of the CD-ROM in the early 1990s-clip art needed a solution to maintain its accessibility without losing usefulness. Clipart's focus started to aim more for quantity over quality in 1995 as T/Maker introduced a 500,000-image copyright-free library. Because the industry relaxed its high quality standards of clipart, copyright became less of a concern as clipart creators became more willing to part with their art. In 1996, for example, Microsoft Word 6.0 offered clipart files as part of its program suite.

When the craft of scrapbooking began, you needed to buy tons and tons of stickers, tape, glue and pretty papers just to stick on the first photo of your kids. Well now days, more and more frugal and happy scrappers are taking full advantage of the technology available to them. With digital cameras and the internet, scrapbooking has become a hobby that anyone can do, and without a huge amount of expense. There is a world of free images, clip art, fonts, borders etc. that can be downloaded or saved to your computer and printed out for your scrapbooks. Much of the school mascot clipart available also features aggressive looking characters for competitive sports. While this is fine for older kids, you may want to search for something more kid friendly if yours is an elementary school. Don't have a friend or relative draw or design it for you. Just because someone is artistically inclined or has a good eye for design, doesn't put them in the same category as a professional cartoonist. Cartooning is a very specialized field - a talent that is honed over many years of trial, error and experimentation. You may have an idea of what you want, but executing it on paper is harder than most people think. It takes a professional. It can be very aggravating. True enough, these people need to get enough money to run their websites and that is a good way to do it. But for the person just looking for a little cool looking Christmas tree, or a reindeer or even a set of stars to go on the Christmas letter they are creating, it can be a lot of work to try and download a free design.
